How to use Mercury Retrograde to magnify your marketing efforts

It's SEPTEMBER!  I hope you, like me, had an amazing summer with some R&R, some family time and a little sunshine. This was my first summer of being officially divorced, and I had more time to myself this summer than I have in 16 years!

I LOVED visiting Maine and California. Here's a pic of my family being goofy at our reunion in California in July:

I even had time for romance this summer as I entered the world of dating again (and let me tell you, dating in your 40's is FUN!)

But now that it's mid-September and the kids are back in school and Labor Day has come and gone

and....

We have just over 90 days to wrap up 2015 with a punch!

Are you ready?

As Mercury goes into retrograde beginning tomorrow, I want to share with you a three step process to use it to boost your biz.

If you're an online entrepreneur, I'm sure you have heard horror stories of Mercury going into retrograde.

- webinars crashing midstream - shopping carts losing customers - computers going on the fritz

and more.

But what is Mercury retrograde anyway?

It's when the planet Mercury slows down, and appears to stop and move backward.

It's an optical illusion, since there is forward movement, like speeding by a slow-moving train -- as it recedes, it appears to go backward.

And how would it have anything to do with magnifying my marketing, Heather?

Mercury going into retrograde means that it's time for a breather.  It's a time of slowing down, gaining new perspective.

It's a great time to take stock of where we've been and make plans for where we're headed.

Here are 3 steps to make the most of Mercury Retrograde in your biz this week:

1. Reflect on one way you gained a client this year that felt really, really good.

How did you do it? How did you feel?

Briefly write down the process AND the emotions surrounding the experience.

Celebrate it!

Getting a client in a way that felt GOOD was you being authentic and empowered.

We all want more of that!

2.  Think of one way you marketed yourself that DIDN'T feel good.

What steps did you take? What emotions came up?

Briefly write down the process AND why the experience left a bad taste in your mouth.

Give yourself permission to trash it!

As the CEO you have the RIGHT to operate your business in the way that feels RIGHT to YOU - not to anyone else.

I'm guessing that part of what didn't feel good is because you followed someone else's "should do."

Vow to not market yourself in a way that feels forced, pushed or inauthentic anymore.

3.  Remember one way you talked about your biz in a way that really resonated with someone.

  • maybe it was over a great cup of tea with a colleague.
  • maybe it was that one fabulous blog post that got a lot of responses.
  • maybe it was a private email to a client.
  • maybe it was just in your journal.

Recall how you talked, how passionate you were, how great it felt to share your expertise.

Recall as much as you can about what you said. Write the experience down.

Create an intention to talk more like THAT.

Because great marketing is really just a great conversation, and when you get FIRED UP about your biz, your tribe will too.

Keep these notes handy, because next week I'llshare how this process can help you createa simple and clean yet powerful 90-day marketing plan.

So stay tuned!
